Commissions

I have previously worked with small publishers and individuals commissioning illustrations for the first time so whether you have a very fixed idea of what you need visualized or have absolutely no clue where to start I can help create the artwork that fits.

I'm able to work from a tight brief with minimal communication but with less experienced clients I prefer to discuss the project thoroughly, so that I can advise you of the best solution possible and so you can be as personally involved in the project as you'd like - I love it when clients get carried away sharing ideas and descriptions. 

We'll cover medium, size, licensing, budget and required output where applicable and I'll get you to share reference text and images. After which, I produce some thumbnail concepts and if you like where things are heading, a 50% deposit is payable (Uk bank preferred) before scheduling a target completion date. Once production starts I'll be in regular contact with WIPs and asking for input on creative decisions unless you've signified otherwise.

My view is that a book cover is not just a generic marketing tool and a painting is not just a stylized photo - this is personal and reflects the person commissioning as much as the artist.

Creature concept or spot illustration - £60-150

Scene Illustration - £200-500

Illustrated Book Cover (inc. print and eBook versions) - £400 - 800

Ink/line art style digital illustration

6 Chapter Headers - £260

Full page (5x8inch) - £150

I'm also available at a negotiable hourly rate for ongoing work

Painting commissions are created on Ampersand artist panel (or similar) in alkyd oil or acrylic paints. Illustration commissions, where the acquisition of the painting is not part of the contract are created in acrylic/alkyd oil paints on primed 3mm masonite/mdf before digital enhancement.
